Where Does the Tour Meet?

All tours begin in front of the Arts Center of the Capital Region, located directly across from Monument Square in downtown Troy, NY. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early for check-in—tours depart right on time.

How long is the tour?

Each walking tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, covering 1.5 miles.

What’s included in the tour?

The tour includes a guided 90-minute walking tour featuring stories of murder, disaster, spiritualism, true crime, and hauntings from real Troy history. You’ll also see locations featured in The Gilded Age TV series.

How physically demanding is the tour?

The tour covers about 1–1.5 miles of walking over city sidewalks and uneven terrain. Guests should be comfortable walking and standing for extended periods. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.

Is the tour accessible?

We are committed to making our tours as accessible as possible. Please let us know about any accommodations you or your group may need at booking. This might include:

Wheelchair-friendly route
Seating breaks
Content adjustments
Attending with a service animal or caregiver.

Your guide will follow up if clarification is needed.

What happens if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine, unless the weather is deemed unsafe (e.g. extreme storms or dangerous conditions). In such cases, you will be notified and offered a reschedule or full refund. Bring an umbrella or poncho just in case!

Can I bring my pet?

No pets are allowed on the tour. Service animals are always welcome.

Should I tip my guide?

Tips are not required, but they are very much appreciated. Our guides work hard to bring history—and the dead—back to life. You may tip in cash or via Venmo (info provided at the end of your tour). All tips go directly to the guide.

Is there an age limit?

We recommend the tour for ages 12 and up. While content is not presented graphically, the stories include real historical events involving murder, violence, child death, mental illness, religious practices, fire, and other sensitive subjects. Parental discretion is advised.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund
Reschedule up to 2 hours before the tour
No refunds for late arrivals or no-shows
Tours with fewer than 2 guests may be canceled by us with advance notice and a full refund or reschedule
